I thought I sent my post to the entire list, but it doesn't seem to
have appeared anywhere.
ANYWAY, I feel kind of upset by the generalizations that "local,
unknown" DJs have lots of bad attitude. Of all the DJs I've met
only two really qualify as having bad attitude. One of them has a
radio show and spins at and promotes a number of parties in the
Northeastern US. The other is also well-known in the New England
area of the US. Neither of these are "local unknowns." But two out
of all the DJs I've ever met is a very small number.
Not that all of them have been completely warm and friendly either, but
hey, some people are a little jerky.
Overall, to say there's a lot of bad attitude among DJs, though, seems
to be unsubstantiated in my experience.
And I've never met anyone who truly believed that the DJ wrote the
music that appears on one of their mix tapes.
